European Union Member States have been reporting different sport participation statistics, physical activity and sedentary behaviour prevalence levels. Also, national data addressing the determinants of these behaviours has been also lacking in a sustainable and continuous perspective.

The few existing monitoring systems differ significantly between countries leading to the publication of a broad range of results that do not appear to reflect the actual situation, both at national and European level, adding difficulties in data comparison.

In this context, the EU Physical Activity and Sport Monitoring System (EUPASMOS) Manual of Operations presents a
new integrated monitoring framework that is more able to strengthen surveillance across the
sport and HEPA sectors, reduce the problems related with data validity and reliability and, therefore, contribute
to the adjustment of European and national HEPA policies to promote PA and sport participation, equitable access, and social inclusion.

This manual of operations describes all the procedures related with the evaluations comprehended in this project, in order to standardize and harmonize methodology among the participating MS.
